Forest inventory and appraisal are important for two reasons.
We can provide a forest inventory which estimates species volume and composition and will allow for implementation of forest management practices to improve tree growth and value, as well as the removal of undesirable species.
With this information collected from the forest inventory, we can establish your timber basis, which in turn will allow you or your accountant to determine the cost basis of your woods. By having the cost basis established, the amount of taxes you pay when your woods is harvested can be reduced.
